PANEER MAKHANI

Paneer Makhani





Ingredients
Paneer cubes – 2 cups/ 250 grams ready paneer packet
Freshly pureed tomatoes -2 cups
Thick cream (can substitute with low fat milk)- ¼ cup
Chopped onion – 1 cup
Chopped ginger -1 tbsp
Garlic cloves -3
Cardamom powder – 1
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
Red chilly powder – ½ tsp
Fenugreek powder – 1 tbsp
Honey -2 tsp
Vegetable oil – 1tbsp
Salt to taste

Directions

1. If it is store bought paneer; soak in hot salt water for about 10 minutes. This process makes the paneer soft and tasty.
2. Grind the onions, garlic and ginger into a fine paste.
3.Heat oil in a pan; sauté the onion paste. Once they turn mild golden color, add turmeric powder, cumin powder, cardamom powder and sauté for a few seconds.
4. Add the tomato puree and simmer until the tomato puree thickens.
5. Add cream, honey and salt and simmer for another 10 minutes.
6. Drain the water from the paneer and add it to the above makhani. Add fenugreek powder(kasuri methi) and simmer for few minutes.
